Textile Market is an experiment by Alma Alloro, featuring a selection of recent textile patchwork works, created using repurposed and discarded materials, in accordance with the principles of zero-waste, in a new performative yet utilitarian format. For the exhibition, Dzialdov’s basement gallery will temporarily transform into a textile market and a workshop, with the artist continuing to produce new work on-site, expanding on the original installation, and operating it as a shop.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a large-scale patchwork quilt with interwoven patterns that invite the viewer to find “sub-compositions” within the work and to purchase unspecified fragments of it that are not predetermined.

Part of the experiment is that the cost will be calculated by size in the same way that textiles are typically sold in markets as “goods” rather than as “art”. On the final day of the exhibition, the artist will engage in a ritual cutting and packaging of the pre-ordered selected pieces.

Textile Market will open and operate during the same opening hours as the “Stoffmarkt” (fabric market) in Maybachufer nearby - Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 12.00 - 18.00.
